Help! My Blossoms Have Finally Faded!

Can I keep the plant after the flowers fade?

You most certainly can..... That first plant of mine from 1951 is blooming again, as usual.

When all the flowers have died, cut the stem somewhere above where it rises from the plant bulb, depending on the variety. Don’t cut off the bulb itself. The plant needs the energy left in the bulb for next year’s growth.

This is exactly what I do to help my 52 year plant of the orchid Epidendrum atropurpureum orchid bloom every year! On some varieties it is possible to cut the flower stem at a spot where it will promote another spray of blossoms on the same stem. See my e-book, "Caring for Your First Orchid & More" for more information. Orchids really are forever.
