Will I Ever Need a Greenhouse?

When might I need a greenhouse?

Fifty years ago the home orchid grower was a rare bird, and those rare birds often had their own special nests, an ultra protective environment for their plants, their own greenhouse.

Today anyone can grow gorgeous orchids indoors without a greenhouse. (However, if the day comes when your home begins to look like a jungle, I will show you little known tricks about building or buying your own greenhouse.)

Since different plants bloom at different times of the year, I keep those orchids that are in flower indoors in our home and rotate the rest to a greenhouse until they bloom again.

Conversation is lively at our dinner parties. Guests bombard us with questions about the spectacular orchid blossoms on the plants on display as well as the cut orchids my wife uses in centerpieces for the dinner table.

Then it dawns on them that they too can grow orchids in their own home and bask in the admiration of their friends as they expound on the knowledge they have acquired so easily from my simply written e-book.

Did you know that many cut orchids last weeks and weeks if you nip a bit off the stem and change the water every three or four days? The three 18 to 22 inch sprays of stunning Dendrobiums which Nancy put in a tall crystal vase five weeks ago look as fresh as the day I picked them.

Picture yourself doing the same! An orchid hobby is both fun and rewarding in some way every day of your life!

Do you remember the first orchid you ever saw? What a breath-taking vision!

Do you recall the first time you received a romantic orchid plant as a gift? Were you the hostess? Were you convalescing in a hospital? Had you done a favor for a friend?

Were you touched by the thoughtfulness of the donor? Imagine the tables turned; you can do the very same thing for others.

Take a magnificent Vanda orchid plant to the office to start a warm relationship with your clients. (Check out my e-book for the best spot in the room to place it.)

We recently participated in the International Orchid Show in Santa Barbara, California, and talked to many visitors who had no idea that they themselves could grow an orchid plant at home and have it flower repeatedly for many years.

Don’t let your climate hold you back!

Orchid hobbyists grow their plants in Iceland and Alaska! One of my wife’s friends grows romantic orchids with abundant blooms in a typical city apartment near Northwestern University Medical School in wintry Chicago.

You don’t need to know a thing about gardening!

You don’t have to spend a lot of time caring for your plant; five or ten minutes a week watering and admiring it will do fine. Tricks of orchid care are easy to learn from my book.

You don’t have to have a degree in the biology and care of orchids --- I’ll teach you what you need to know from the very beginning the minute you bring home one of these stunning beauties.
